Choreography: Donald Byrd
Inspired by the senseless loss of so many young lives to violence, war and careless mistakes, Donald Byrd's NO CONSOLATION/ INTERRUPTED NARRATIVE is a story cut short, mid-sentence; a path never fully explored. Set to traditional Irish music, this riveting and moving work engages five dancers in a torrent of Irish step dance-influenced movement seething with emotion. Strikingly violent clashes taken to self-destructive extremes.
"Masterfully crafted and danced with uncompromising
passion and genius by DAT's dancers,
the work captured the very essence of shattered lives."
- Dance Magazine
"The emotional intensity was shattering...
caught in numbness and internal confusion...
the choreographer's emotional range is immense."
- Pittsburgh Tribune Review
"Dancers awash in unabashed pain, sorrow and anger,
pouring their every fiber into Byrd's taxing choreography...
perhaps the most emotionally powerful work
in the company's 31 year history."
- Pittsburgh Tribune Review
