THE NATIONAL CHOREOGRAPHERS RETREAT In 2006, Dance Alloy Theater, with support from The Heinz Endowments, launched the national choreographer's retreat - an annual opportunity that provides one professional choreographer, and their dancers, a one-week uninterrupted creative retreat in DAT's state of the art studio facilities in Pittsburgh - one week in which to focus intensively on their own work. This is not a product-oriented retreat, nothing is expected from the visiting artist accept to allow for one open rehearsal, open to the local professional dance community only, unless otherwise requested by the visiting choreographer. If the visiting artist would prefer a more extensive viewing, DAT staff will work together with the artist to arrange the event. The visiting artist/company is invited to take DAT's company classes and to observe any DAT rehearsals. Dance Alloy Theater provides:
